Al
Berard Teaches... Cajun Fiddle Basics Produced for Al Berard
by Tom Gath and Susi Mills of Bayou Highway Productions.
With this DVD you can learn from one of the masters as you watch,
listen and play along. In this menu driven instructional DVD,
Al Berard teaches the basics of tuning, bowing, melody and seconding
for two complete Cajun songs, "The Acadian Two Step" and "The
Eunice Waltz". Al Berard Teaches... Cajun Fiddle Basics was
recently reviewed in "Cajun Life and Times" magazine.
This CD
was recorded in Leo's living room with his lifelong friend Alan
Touchete, playing accordian and Tommy Gath on guitar. Bayou
Highway Productions recorded this CD to capture the
beautiful music that these two men make together at house parties
and jam sessions. Alan and Leo do not perform together and we
hoped to document their sound.
Bayou
Highway Productions
produced this website for Leo Abshire, a self-taught master
fiddle player and is also a master fiddle maker. Leo started
playing fiddle when he was seven years old. Coming from a musically
talented family that includes his late cousin, the famous accordion
player Nathan Abshire, and accordion player Ray Abshire, Leo
likes to play traditional Cajun French music.
The
Bayou Highway website was self-produced by Bayou Highway
Productions. All images are the creations of Susi and
Tommy, with a little help from their friends. The site highlights
aspects of the band and can be used for com- munications with
the group.
